Philosophy
It
is our goal to present a success-oriented program that provides opportunities
for development in every area of a child’s growth: social, emotional, physical,
spiritual, and intellectual. We believe a child needs many successful
experiences in the early years to develop a positive self-concept – an “I can
do it!” attitude.
Language
Development
Oral language development includes
understanding and communicating through spoken words. At Harmony Grove
Preschool your child will have many opportunities daily to converse with other
adults. You will see dramatic changes
in his/her vocabulary.
Assessments
We
assess your child’s progress continually and are always ready to meet with you
to discuss his/her mastery of skills and concepts taught. We have a minimum of two formal conferences
each year.
Curriculum
Creative
expression through music, art, and language.
Respect
for God and His creation as
well as for others.
Social
studies, science, nature, math,
and
computer skills/content for
3 and 4 year olds.
Spiritual
values through weekly
chapel.
Development of cognitive skills in the
areas of literacy and numeracy.
Learning to problem-solve and think
logically.
Personal and physical growth through
appropriate
hygiene, self-
control,
exercise, and rest.
Meeting Individual Needs
Although your child is placed in a
classroom based on age, students are assessed and taught from their individual
points of mastery. New goals are set
for students who have mastered all the standards set for the whole class. This is possible due to our small teacher :
student ratio. It results in greater
gains for your child.
Preschool Program
Both
three and four hour classes are offered from 9:30 to 12:30 and 9:30 to 1:30.
Length of class depends upon the age of the child. Placement is determined by child’s age on September 1st.

Harmony
Grove United Methodist Preschool is an outreach service of Harmony Grove United
Methodist Church. The Georgia Accrediting Commission accredits the preschool.
Harmony
Grove Preschool offers a Christian approach to our children’s learning
environment and has been a respected part of the Lilburn community for the past
40 years.

Registration
Fee:
(Required at time of application to hold
your spot.)
This
fee is equivalent to one month’s tuition. The money is used for supplies and
special events.
We
welcome children of all religions, race, and creed.
The
school year begins after Labor Day in September and ends in mid-May. Registration is ongoing. Summer camps are
also offered in June and July.
Parents
are always welcome to visit. We will be happy to discuss our program or to
answer any questions you may have.
